Ambitious Start-Up Launches “One-Stop” App, ZeusX

ZeusX launched today to rave reviews and over 120 million downloads in the first hour of its availability.

March 1, 2000- Today, ZeusX launched its mobile application of the same name to an overwhelmingly positive reception. The application, which is described as “a one-stop shop at the intersection of entertainment, news, commerce, and socialization”, has been widely-anticipated for months.

“A new day is upon us. For years now, people have been forced to rely on a collection of internet sites that don’t speak to one another, and this has resulted in a tremendous amount of inefficiency. We’re forced to go to one website for news, another to connect with friends, and yet another to make purchases. It’s absurd,” says Donald Hopkins, one of ZeusX’s three founders.

“With ZeusX, you have everything in one place, an application- or app as we call it- that offers you everything you could want. And because everything is contained within one application, the more you use it, the better it will be able to anticipate your needs and bring you value.”

Says tech analyst Malcolm Reinkopf, “ZeusX is a game-changer. We’ve never seen anything like this before, and we need to realize that this will represent a quantum leap in the way we function. We can’t even begin to anticipate its long-term effect on our world.”

But while many have praised the application, there are those that are wary of a technology that has the potential to control so much of what we consume, as well as to possibly influence both our thoughts and actions. Many ethicists, as well as a handful of politicians, began to raise concerns about ZeusX weeks before its release date was revealed.

“Let’s just remember that technologies are often double-edged. A technology like this, with such a profound potential for good, also brings with it an equal potential for the opposite. It’s not hard to imagine the possibility of this being used to manipulate large audiences,” said U.S. Representative Wilson Matthews of New Jersey when asked about ZeusX’s launch.

Others have been even more critical. “This is nothing short of a weapon of mass destruction”, declared Senator Jessica O’Keefe of Wisconsin. “It is a tool that can and will be used for the manipulation of information, and we live in an age in which information can be used to stoke fear and incite rebellions.”
